SkyeBrowse Takes on WREX
Our team was at the largest accident reconstruction conference in the world last month! The World Reconstruction Exposition (WREX), held in Orlando, Florida from April 17-21st, brings in specialists in accident and forensic reconstruction for an interactive conference full of vendors, trainers, and enthusiastic guests.
We had our booth set up, and we were busy! It was amazing to speak with other accident reconstruction experts on their approach and strategy. We were among many vendors including FARO, FSM (Forensics & Security Metrology), Skydio, Axon, Leica, Northwestern Center for Public Safety, and more incredible organizations. We also demonstrated our videogrammetry technology, and generated a 3D model of a crash site that was staged right there at the conference!
The WREX conference is well-known for staging crash sites. This allows vendors to showcase accident reconstruction techniques that are implemented in everyday cases. There are many ways to document vehicular crashes. Investigators label significant areas of the incident scene with markers that can be measured and annotated. Competitive methods of taking measurements include laser scanning and photogrammetry. SkyeBrowse uses videogrammetry, which right now is on par with other methods in terms of accuracy, but it’s a front-runner with speed.
Once the crash was staged, we flew a SkyeBrowse mission to demonstrate what videogrammetry can do. Our VP of Business Development, Jeff Clementi, flew an Autel Evo II, and the flight took about 30 seconds to capture a detailed video of the staged motorcycle crash. Processing the video with our patented technology involves uploading the video file captured during the flight plan, and the frames are projected onto the pre-generated 3D model. This creates a life-like digital twin of the scene!
We’re so proud to show the capabilities of videogrammetry in public safety, as well as other use cases. Check out the model and see for yourself!
Catch you at the next conference in Denver!
